Wisconsin, Cranberry country

Wisconsin grows about 65% of the US's cranberries and for much of my life, I've been around cranberries.  Needless to say... Life in the central plains area of Wisconsin is pretty much centered around cranberries.

Just North of my hometown, is a small village of about 500 people.  For nearly the last 50 years, Warrens, Wisconsin has hosted the world's largest Cranberry Festival.  Always held on the last weekend in September.  If you're in the area and enjoy the arts & crafts scene swing by and check it out.  Like any festival in the mid-west, you'll always find something good to eat too.

Wisconsin, my return...

No matter what time of year, the Capitol in Madison, Wisconsin is impressive.  It doesn't matter from what angle, season or time of day, the Capitol is impressive.  Fortunately, I get to admire it twice a day on my daily commute to and from work.

Nevada, summed up in 4 pictures...

"Tomorrow is the most important thing in life.
Comes into us at midnight very clean.
It's perfect when it arrives
and it puts itself in our hands.
It hopes we've learnt something from yesterday."
- Inscription on John Wayne's headstone

Northern Nevada was an incredible experience, every single day of my 8+ years there.  In many ways, I am still surprised that I stayed for as long as I did.  Nevada is really what you want to make out of it.  A very cowboy way of life, even in modern times.  I am forever grateful for the wonderful people that I crossed paths with during my time there and without those friendships my time would have been much shorter.

Boterismo

is a figurative artist and sculptor from Medellín, Colombia. His signature style, also known as "Boterismo", depicts people and figures in large, exaggerated volume, which can represent political criticism or humor, depending on the piece. He is considered the most recognized and quoted living artist from Latin America, and his art can be found in highly visible places around the world, such as Park Avenue in New York City and the Champs-Élysées in Paris.

As far back as I can remember, Botero has been my favorite contemporary artist.

There are a few "must do's" each time I visit Bogota and this is always at the top of my list.  The Botero Museum in Bogota, Colombia is absolute must see.

The museum is owned by the Banco Central de Colombia (Central Bank) and the museum consists of over a hundred works of Fernando Botero and another hundred works of other artists. Highlights of the permanent collection include works by Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet and Henri Matisse.

Go, you will not be disappointed.
